MENTAL HACKS

Meditation - The Psychological First Aid

Meditation helps to calm the monkey mind, whose natural tendency is to jump from one thought to another, with little to no positive outcome.

Fear, worry, stress, and anxiety can be brought under control via meditation, and this should be your psychological first aid before you pop any pills.

The mind derives benefits from being calm, and this is the best self-help for anxiety.

Simply relax - Life is not that deep (LOL).

PS: Avoid the Nigeria Stock Exchange, Nigerian Newspapers, and Gossip Blogs.

Your mind is the source of all suffering, heavily impacted by the kind of media we consume. Social media is a chief contributor to the mental health crisis, so to stay creative, regulating my screen time became necessary. I chose to block out time for relaxation and meditation.

After a short meditation session, I feel a boost in my ability to focus on tasks. Focus is regained when we slow things down, which greatly reduces post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms such as intrusive thoughts, irritability, mood swings, and more.

To stay creative, a Nigerian will have to forget about the traumatizing realities of his nationality, by escaping to a thought-world that improves his mental wellbeing - #SomewhereBetter.

I meditate with gratitude for surviving an environment notorious for many vices. My unique perspective and expanded worldview have enabled me to transcend all limitations. Having alchemized and integrated all my suffering, I count them a privilege.

Try it today and let us know in the comments. The benefits are amazing.

Regular Affirmations - The Secret to My Mental Health

Affirmations help to crystallize ideas by adding vibrational intention to our imagination, as we speak desires into existence.

When words laden with charged emotions are released into the ether, the mind picks it up as an assignment and goes to work immediately.

The above video is a track I released a few years ago, as a treatment for mental illness symptoms like anxiety and depression I suffered after blowing up forex trading accounts and plunging myself into debt worth over a million naira.

Creating positive words of affirmation kept me in the right state of mind, as a black African, dealing with challenging perceptions within and outside my country, as I struggled to partner with platforms due to their blacklisting of Nigeria.

Post-traumatic stress disorders thrive in an environment saturated with negative thoughts of fear and worry, creating an unfriendly business environment for those of us still on the rise. I had to develop a personalized worldview. "Provoe", I called it.

Promoting reintroduction of virtues on earth!

African Americans may also relate to this power in affirmations, as they have been known to revolutionize the music and fashion industries with their proclamation of dominance in modern pop culture.

Affirmations are also a huge part of African spirituality as observed in chants and incantations, delivered routinely to ensure our emotions are positively charged with faith and hope for a better future. This was necessary to discourage negatively charged emotions of fear and other symptoms of PTSD disorder, affecting the average black African.

Educational research shows that the subconscious mind can't tell the difference between lived and imagined experiences - it goes to work regardless, producing the fruits of our predominant thoughts as our manifest destiny and physical reality.

Affirmations keep our desired vision alive in the ether as the spoken word has power and stays active long after it is spoken.

Certain prophecies and declarations by our ancestors have survived in our African heritage, preserved as folk tales, music, and traditional customary pronouncements, reenacted during rites and rituals observed in marriages, naming ceremonies, and more.

This is also how parents impart blessings or curses. Long after the words are spoken, a child grows up to fulfill the prophecies declared, either in love or anger.

Dear Parents - whenever you feel depressed, watch your pronouncements, lest they yield unintended consequences in your old age.
