Standing Up for Ourselves

Even though it’s not easy, and it might cost you something seemingly significant as you possibly face criticism, today is the day to stand up for yourself.

The truth is, by not standing up for your worth because you think it will cause conflict, you are accepting to harbor the said conflict internally, within you, which will displace your mental well-being and peace of mind, which you cannot afford in the long term.

Short-term pain for long-term gain is the best formula.

We’re good at tricking ourselves into thinking we have too much to lose by protecting the status quo. But this is an illusion, cos you would only be losing what was harming you.

This is a gain, not a loss. You’ve gained peace, self-respect, and happiness.

If you stand up for yourself and your value, and it results in some people, jobs, or partners not wanting you anymore, then be grateful that this necessary adjustment happened sooner rather than later, and you’ve successfully cut ties with something that didn’t deserve you.

Since 2015, I’ve been learning the art of standing up for myself, my values, and what I believe to be True.

Standing up for myself has also helped me develop empathy toward others in the process of standing up for themselves too.

I can’t tell you how much this has changed all elements of my life, my relationships, and my overall satisfaction.

Things don’t drag out unaddressed anymore and I don’t have to live with manipulators who don’t respect or appreciate me, within my circle.

You don't lose real friends, opportunities, or relationships when you start standing up for yourself and setting clear boundaries.

You lose abusers, manipulators, narcissists, control freaks, attention seekers, and mental-health-destroying leeches.

So, stand up for yourself today, and your future self will be proud of you.

See you in the comments.
